A day of auto care

So today was a pretty day here in SE Virginia. I changed oil in three vehicles and after my family left, i decided to wash my trucks and check tires, spare tires, etc.

I inserted the key into my spare tire lock on my 2011 and the lock had seized since past November. I got the lock, took it all apart, cleaned and lubed it and put it all back together.

This would have been a real PITA if I actually did have a flat and couldn't get the lock out. Real happy that I check this every year.

Never thought of checking that. Good heads up.

It WOULD be a PIA to wrestle with such a simple thing on the road.

I work at TCY now, and three times in last 4 months I’ve gotten a flat at same point turning by the galley. I’ve had to drop that spare each time. Don’t know what’s causing the flat. I’ve had it off the rim three times now,

i always check my spare tire. You remind me I need to change oil. About to hit 55k on my ‘13fx4

Hey shipmate! At least you have an auto hobby shop on base, or at least there was one once.

still is one. a few lifts and a lot of tools. I am going to do a transmission swap on a 1997F150 for a friend in a week or two.
I wish I had done it at the autoshop but I did a 2000 dodge Dakota heat core replacement in my driveway in October. It was while I was on leave and took about 2 days to do it. Made about 250$ on the job. I may be an MK but I haven't been an "MK" for the CG in 6 years. I have to do it on the side.
