What is this part?

Hey guys, new to me 2011 with the 3.5 EB.
Bought it with 122k on it, 4x4, 4 dr, lariat, short short bed. What is this canister?
Dealer said this part is a dealer add on because ford had an issue with water or something like that. Can someone tell me what it's for and what kind maintenance needs to be done.

Also, first yr EB where only single turbos or duel turbos?

Thanks

Looks like a PCV oil catch can to me. Unsure of the exact maintenance requirements for this model - If you haven't already would drain from the valve on the bottom. I don't know if these have a filter media that needs to be replaced? Someone else can chime in.

First year EB still had two turbos

That is a catch can. Depending on where you live (more humidity and/or colder weather) you will need to drain it about once a month. Stick a can of some type under it, open the valve (Might need to stick a screwdriver in it to clear the gunk at times that builds up above the drain valve).

Search ecoboost catch can on google and you will get a lot of results.

Yeah I followed the hoses and they go to the PCV valve/breather. I live in Panama City Florida so yes humidity is always high here. I didnt empty it yet because I want to catch what comes out to see what it looks like. Thanks guys for the help.
