Winter's approaching...time for batteries?

that quick connect probably helps extend the life. Plus your engine looks too clean to be used much.....
i replace mine every three years even if they’re fully charged just for peace of mind knowing it will start in the winter. Small cost over a three year period. A tank of gas almost costs more than a battery.

Diesel at stations around here today is at a low of $4.00 per gallon, and a high of $4.50 per gallon. Seville009, around here filling your tank would set you back between $176 to $200. Therefore, you could pick up not just one, but two Everstarts for about the same price as one tank of fuel. So the cost justification for replacing your batteries every three years is easy. The hard part is hoisting those batteries over the fenders every three years, four times (twice to take the old ones out, twice to put the new ones in).
Once I got old, that got old.

I run Sears Diehards they’ve been great so far, 3 years now but they weren’t cheap. However, with Sears halfazzed business plan I’m concerned about the warranty and when rather than if they close their doors for good. I filled the truck up yesterday 2.86/gallon. I don’t look at pump total, it’s one of those things that has to be done so no point in having an emotional response to it.

$2.60 for diesel here in Hartwell yesterday. It hurts when I fill up the auxiliary tank and the OEM tank with ~75 gallons, but I also drive for a long a$$ time with that much fuel too.
Like Y2KW57, I felt that a high quality AGM battery was the right choice for me. I figured I would rather pay a bit more and have batteries for close to a decade than to swap two group 65 batteries out 2-3 times in the same period. YMMV

Well I finally bit the bullet and ended up with 2 new Napa Legend Batteries rated at 850 CCA and 1045 CA. So far they're working very well and spin the truck over plenty fast. We'll see how long they last. Total was $250 for both plus a core charge for both so not too bad. I kept the old batteries for use on my farm.
