No radio function after phone call/text

Sync 3. iPhone plugged in. After making or receiving a call or text I can't turn on the radio.

I can't even get the radio screen to come up from the sync menu buttons at the bottom of the screen.

Restarting the truck will reset it but I'm hoping there's an easier option.

What IOS are you running and what’s your sync version?

I hope i`m wrong but it sounds like your APIM might be showing it`s first sign of going out. This is a known problem and restarting your truck only reboots the APIM but this is only a temporary fix. You might start experiencing other strange issues as well. If your vehicle is still under the OEM warranty, you should take it in and have the APIM checked.

I had the same thing happen in a 2016 f-150. They ended up changing the APIM and it didn’t help. My screen started to blackout and I would have to turn my truck off, get out lock the doors then get back in and start it for it to work. After about 5 trips to the dealership they replaced my head unit/display and everything was fine after that.... so if they change the APIM and it doesn’t get better you need to demand they change everything

GABAR and Fortworth86 - Thanks for the tip on the APIM. I look into it.

Try the hard reboot, which is to press power button and the forward arrow button for seven seconds, when screen goes black or comes back up release. It might be this will work as well as completely shutting the truck off and starting again. Alteast until you have it looked at.

Haven't had time to go to the dealer yet, but when it happened again the other day I unplugged my
phone, the radio started back up and I plugged my phone back in. Seems the phone is overriding
the radio function after using phone/text and not releasing it.
