It seems to me that battery life is a crap shoot. The battery in the '04 I had lasted 10yrs and still tested good when I replaced it just to be safe. The battery in my wife's Subaru only lasted 18 months. I've had expensive ones die relatively quickly and cheap ones last a long time. When I buy a replacement I go for the highest CCA I can find.

The factory battery in my 2004 F-150 lasted 7 years before it started dragging. I was pleasantly surprised at how long it lasted, and decided that I will always run MC batteries.

I figured I'd run it through the winter then change in the spring. The tech showed me that she was putting out only 300 CCA's on an 850 CCA rated battery. I just had him change it during the oil change.

A year later I was doing some service on my bride's 2004 Expy. It had an Autozone Gold battery in it that was about 8 years old. Just for giggles I tested it with my multi-tester. It read right at 11.8v. I carried my happy butt right to the dealer and bought a MC MaXX 850 CCA. 99 month warranty. Perhaps it could have gone a bit longer but I'd feel like a real douche if my wife got stranded and I COULD have prevented it.
Here’s what I’ve been using.
Seems to work well.

I thought my old 2013's battery was dead in 2017. I am not sure it applies to the newer F150s, but I found a trick to unhook the btm(battery mgmt) or whatever it was called. It hooks to the Negative terminal. My 5 year old battery charged up and was fine up until earlier this year when the truck was totaled No adverse effects from taking off the cable. It had 135k on it when was hit and I took numerous 10 hour trips with it over the years. My 2018 f150 has an AGM battery in it, so I have no idea how long that will last.

2015 XLT Sport 4X4, 2.7L 76K miles

I've waited a LONG time to contribute to this thread...my original MC battery (BAGM-48H6-760), factory dated 12/16/2014, finally needed to be replaced today (12/27/2021), not too bad! Still started/ran the truck, but my chimes sounded like they were punch drunk, and my start-stop hadn't been working for about a month. Yesterday all my gauge needles fluttered for about 10secs after first start. Swapped in identical MC part from dealer, who was $10 cheaper than both NAPA and Autozone equivalents.

Was the warranty on the NAPA and Autozone the same as the MC battery? Ford downgraded it's Maxx battery warranty from 99 months to 36 months.

I replaced the OE battery in my 2011 truck in 2015 with a 99 month Maxx battery. Earlier this year is failed suddenly and with little if any warning. I got a very small pro-rate applied to the new battery and was then informed that now it's a 36 month warranty.

I got much better service than this from the Autozone God batteries that I had in the past.

Still going strong on my 2015 OEM battery. I am probably pushing my luck.

Yes, each had 3yr warranty. (My original battery also had a 36 month warranty decal.)

The promise of better quality isn't exactly inspiring with reduced warranties.

No it doesn't. Also, we have been told for years now that battery tech is about to move forward by leaps and bounds. To me it seems to have gotten worse.

2015 trucks with original batteries? That's crazy!!

Mine went out about a year ago so I put in a X2 AGM from Batteries Plus ( https://www.batteriesplus.com/produc...um/sli94ragmdp ) with a 60 month free replacement warranty. It's a little more but with the 10% discount for purchasing online and the longer warranty I figured why not.

Yeah that's a good deal, no doubt. Excellent specs!
