3 Spd Transmission Gear Ratios

Does anyone know the gear rations of the stock '57 3 spd manual transmission? I am trying to figure out a way to make my truck more driveable while amassing all the parts and dollars for my build. And cruising my truck down the freeway at 2700 RPMS is not fun.

Thanks!

Well I was going to be kind enough to help out with stating the obvious but looks like you got it. I know that 2700rpm get's old fast, before I Installed my OD I used to run there as well, now I run 2100RPM around 65-70mph. OD is one of the best upgrades I did hands down, along with EFI.

Yeah Dman....i'd like to blame that on lack of coffee or something.....but I'm still learning so its really lack of knowledge. Should have searched the interweb BEFORE posting!

I'm guessing youre talking about the 5spd connected to your swapped motor?

My grand plan is along the same lines as Oldbleu.....a Coyote and an AOD trans. But that is about 18-24 months out. And in the meantime I love driving this truck but freeways runs are no fun. So I am trying to get it a little more cruisable for now. I'm currently getting ready to put in a new gas tank (the one I plan to use for my build) since the stock tanks pickup line is toast and thought since I am under the truck I may as well try and improve the driving pleasure. I have a buddy of mine looking out for a used pumpkin with 3.25 gears (or somewhere in that range). Mine is currently a 3.70.

Actually I have a 64 F100 with a 466 cu in engine, Holley Terminator EFI and backed by a 4R70W Auto trans(4spd) Works pretty slick. The 1st gear is lower in the 4r70W than the AOD and AODE so you get a great off the line gear and your 4th is still decent. I run a set of 3.50 gears in the rear end and she does well.

I am looking forward to running the 5spd in the 57 and being able to do some shifting and have some manual fun.
