COE battery cover sold for crazy money on ebay
So a few days ago I saw a battery cover for a 48-52 COE come up for sale on ebay. The starting bid was reasonable so I watched it, thinking if it wasn't too much I might pick it up, since it's about the only part missing on my cabover. And it looked like a pretty nice one. Then toward the end of the auction, a couple guys decided they were going to let everyone know how bad they wanted it. I'm curious if anyone has ever seen one come up for sale, and if this is common money or 2 guys going nuts.

thats crazy money
I to am missing a battery cover for my 50 COE F5. I have been wanting to make a composite ( fiberglass) reproduction of this part not only for myself but also for others. This part could be fabricated very easily and strong. Also it would not be subject to corrosion. If there is an original part available to make a mold from I can replicate it in composite. Anyone have one I could use? Making a mold does not take much time. I work in the marine composite industry and manage this type of part developement daily.

I was gonna buy that too.
Once it hit $450 I asked the guy to send me pics of all sides with tape measures across it . He surprisingly did. I will make one eventually.

^This is an excellent comment, and I couldn't agree more. More often than not you can fabricate something of your own. It may not look 100% original or have the finely honed details of a factory piece, many times it actually works better for your build. I try to follow this approach whenever I can, though there are times you may need to actually buy something that simply can't be fabricated (due to difficulty, materials, or safety concerns....thinking when I built my rally car)
