The don't salt our roads here like they do in the east.
I agree, the driving here in the is a little different. On the west side of the mountains we rarely get snow if its below 25 F, Its usually very wet and packs hard and we end up with packed snow and ice. Snow is easier, it can be pushed up in front of a stopping tire to form a mound that can stop a vehicle. Same with the tires. The treads can fill with cold snow and that will stick to the snow on the roads and actually increase traction. The ice and packed slow usually partially melts during the day, just to re-freeze at night. I would take cold snow any day that the slush and ice we get.
AND, most of the drivers over here can barely drive in GOOD conditions, add ice and we have a MESS!

I love mines too we had them on our 4Runner as well no complaints at all and they are well priced too

Have a set of 37 Nitto exo grapplers that the F350 will be wearing in the next few weeks. We’ll see how they handle the snow for our ski trips. Hopefully they can really pull double duty as a daily AT/MT hybrid tire and part time winter tire as well. I had studded Hakka 7’s on my previous SUV for the winter, they were amazing in the snow and ice. I don’t expect the Nittos to perform the same in the snow, but I’m sure they’ll do much better on the street and off road.

Good reading for tires. Leaning toward the Blizzaks here in Utah for the winter. Not the daily driver unless the wife needs it during the heavy snow days. As soon as the last snow falls will put back the Wranglers it came with so not worried to much about alot of miles. Curious though what pressure should I run in the Blizzaks on the 19 SD and will I need to redo the TPMS since I imagine they will be lower than the factory Wranglers. Supposedly going to be much more precip this year here than last but a bit more mild on the temps.

looked up a Blizzak in one of the standard Super Duty sizes, 14/32" tread...the tire may be good in the snow, but I prefer something with sipes and shoulder lugs, (the sipes are fewer) but the lugs are great in deep powder, slush and Cooper offers several with 18/32" tread...and even when the tread wears down to its last season-or-so, the lugs are there to pull you through...check out the Discover line...any thoughts??

Looked up those also on the Discount tire website. They have those in either studded or not. They rate them as only ‘better’ than the Blizzaks with came in with ‘best’....sigh...decisions, decisions...

I am sure that the Blizzaks are best for traction, especially on ice, but I do think that the shoulder lugs do 'bring something to the party'...

I recently went through this and ended up buying the Cooper Mud + Snow, studded. Made a huge difference. We've already had a lot of snow this year (14 inches yesterday and 6-10 today) and these tires go through anything and are great on ice.

Snows a coming!

Swapped over my stock 17in Michelin wheels and tires from my leftover 17 inch studded tires from my 2011 f350. The coopers have served me well in the past, I really like the newer highly siped closed tread pattern studded tires . Works great on snow and ice and they accommodate Chains

much better than big old blocky studded mud and snow tires from the old days. I also took pictures of my leaf spring configuration 17" wheels f350 cclb 4x4 with camper package.

I have been using Master Craft Courser MSR's with studs for years on all my cars and trucks, they work great for this part of the country. We are in lake effect snow country of NW Pennsylvania

These will come out from left field as they haven’t been listed yet but for years I have run studded Goodyear Duratracs, the same as we run on our fleet trucks. I have got through some nasty spots with/without our loaded enclosed trailers and in doing so impressed my buddies so much they went out and bought them too. I live and work in one of the most brutal climates in Canada for snow/ice/wind and they haven’t made me want to try something different yet.

Angry

Went with the Blizzaks...since I still have the wranglers on from delivery, is the TPMS set at 80 for those? I would like to run a bit lower for ride, thanks..

Correction....Discount tire called and said they are no longer available in my size...? He is going to call Nokian on Mon and see if they have the Nokian hakkapeliitta in my size...

Another updated....Discount cannot get the Nokian without the studs. If I change the wheel size from the factory 18s to either 20s or 17s, supposedly there are "alot" more options...
