I bought some parts off a guy in NC that just finished restoring a 54 F100 . It was his dad's , who owned a Shell gas station Had the service station logo and Shell emblem on the doors and tailgate.
Thought it was neat as my 54 came from a Shell service station where I used to work. Still have the front push bar we used, and a grille guard.
I think leaving the boom off would be the way to go.
