Do you have short people who ride in your truck? That's the real question to answer before trying to decide what steps you have. There's no way a short person or child can easily get into these trucks if you raise the step 3-4 inches.

If you decide to use the F150 brackets, you really only need four. The F150 steps only use 4 brackets. I replaced my f250 Lariat chrome steps with oem F150 Magnetic Gray steps and they only came with four brackets and only have holes to mount two brackets per side. You can definitely use three per side if you are keeping your oem steps, but you can save a few bucks if you don’t want to buy all six brackets. You may just want to put a piece of black tape over the holes for the third bracket to keep dirt and water out.
