Early Model 1999 F250 Injector Question

Hello I am new to the forum. I had a question about my early model 1999 f250 7.3, (Build date 9/98) I am shopping for injectors and was told to make sure I get a different injector for the number 8 Cyl to reduce "cackle" My question is I only see injector sets with the different number 8 Cyl injector for late model 1999's. Like x7 AD's and x1 AE for the 8 Cyl. For early models I am not seeing this. Does the early model not suffer from cackle and need a special injector?

Thank you in advance. I truly appreciate anybody taking the time to read and answer this.

Suplement question. Can I order the ADx7 and AE x1 injectors anyway on my early model f250? Will it still work or will there be issues?

I went from the e99 stock 130cc to the L99 stock 140cc, I also added the FRX and HPX at the same time. I have no cackling after all. Late last year I rebuilt the turbo, did a pedestal delete and went to a 4” Turbo back exhaust. I have no heat issues and the truck is extremely reliable.

The whole long lead injector for #8 cyl idea can be completely tossed out if you get a FRx, the H&H with Racor120 is even more insurance if the cackle is your concern. The early model suffers from the same "cackle" as the late, but the AE injector is 140cc, the earlys have 130cc so you'd need 140cc to match up the set

Thank you. So I can go with the 140cc (the AD/AE) if I match all 8 at the 140cc? I was planning on replacing all injectors so that is not an issue. I just want to make sure I am understanding you correctly.

Just to help the original poster with slang terms. Can be over whelming when new. You can search these items and get answers as to what they are.

H&H - “Hutch and Harpoon” Mod which is modifications you do inside the gas tank to help with the crackle(air)

FRx - a addition of some lines to the fuel lines feeding the engine that are supposed to help with air being trapped in the ends of the fuel runs and being forced through the injectors.

Racor 120 - is a brand of fuel separator many add when they do the previous mentioned H&H mods.

Again searching will will give you all to know about these items. I hope this helps.

Yes. That’s what he is saying. The Late injectors will run just fine. My truck is a early bird with a 2001 engine. Runs just fine.

Mine runs great with the 140cc injectors no issues. If you’re in there I would do the FRX, the back DS fitting is a royal PITA!

One more question please. Could I go as big as 160cc without having to chip or change anything on the truck? My main goal is to be able to start it easy in cold weather but these current injectors must be replaced.

Thank you

So from my experience and understanding the larger you go the more issues you’ll run into...heat EGT, air intake (turbo), tuning, exhaust etc. at the time I was doing my injectors I was already struggling with heat EGT‘s. It will turn out I had a plugged CAT. If I had known that prior to buying injectors I probably would’ve been a little bigger also. But like I mentioned then you run into turbo and exhaust issues also. And honestly, I’m not building a sled truck I want something that provides adequate power, reliability and dependability 24/7.

Only OEM Sensors in our trucks!

BTW: Welcome to FTE, were the advice is free but taking it will cost you money! .

Cold starts, make sure your glow plugs NEW OEM, you gotta go in there anyway you might as will replace them, GPR and UVCH are also good. Regarding the GPR I went with the Stancor it was worth it! Coldest weather I’ve had to deal with since doing the work on my truck I injectors in GPR was -7 I like the glow plugs run for one cycle and started the truck up. It grumbled for a second and went to a perfect idle.

The only 160cc injector that I know of is the AC code injector. It is 160cc but is a single-shot injector vice the split shots that came with the truck. If you go this route you will definitely need tuning (chip/Hydra) for them to run right.

Ask me how I know...
