97 f250 Sway bars

Hi guys

I’m brand new to the truck game and need some educating. I recently purchased an F250 long bed extended cab with the 7.3. She’s got a 4 inch lift in the back. Whoever owned it previously removed both front and rear sway bars and I want to put one back on especially since I will be planning on sliding a camper in the bed. Is it better to invest in the rear sway bar or front sway bar? I’ve had no luck finding all the parts I’ll need for the front sway bar. Could I get away with going with a rear sway bar?

Thanks a bunch!

NO!

Do not just run a rear. Handling will be dangerous.

Many guys convert the TTB 4x4 to solid. I am sure you can turn up a front. Let me ask around too.

Even with a rear lift? I thought it was more of a concern in the front.

Thumbs up

Solid axle just has less parts that move making it stronger and more durable. TTB is not bad, but needs all bits tight to track correct eliminating tire wear...then you better find a sharp tech at a shop that knows how to align them with the cams.

At 20+ years old, plus miles, these trucks all need front end jobs. I rebuilt mine, non 4x4, it is not hard to me...but I am also the guy that rebuilds his own transmissions. The D50 has a third U-joint which seems to be the MFer on the setup. The rest is basic stuff...outer ujoints, bearings, I beam pivot bushings, etc, etc, etc. May as well do brakes while in there, brake hoses, shocks of course, maybe leaf spring bushings or just new springs, ....

I have had my '88 F150 since 2000, it did not come equipped with sway bars either. Handling is nothing short of comical. If you did a rear bar only, I am pretty sure the truck will oversteer bad. So yah, start with a front bar.

Best thing about an f250 ttb is that a d60 is an easy swap and you wind up with a good truck after.
