2012 f250 lockout hub issue

hey guys i just picked up a 2012 f250 super duty boss 6.2l auto and when i went to lock it into 4 wheel drive i noticed the lockout on the driver side said "LOCK" with directional arrow and on opposite side "AUTO" with a directional arrow and the lockout on the passenger side was the normal "LOCK" and "FREE" anyways when i locked the truck it worked then kicked out so i said screw it and took it back to the dealership they ruled it bad bearings and axle shaft u joints they're still waitin on the parts for that hopefully that fixes it but im still intrigued as to what the lock and auto hub is and if they should be the same lockout or if they're supposed to be different any help would be greatly appreciated

Someone has swapped the hub. Does your truck have manual shift or is it dash **** ESOF?

Then both hubs need to say Auto and Lock.

If you manually lock them both, the 4wd should work (assuming no non-hub issues). Might be that the prior owner had the passenger hub ho out and only changed that obe.

Seville that’s what I was thinking and I had both hubs in lock and it still kicked out idk I brought the different hubs to there attention I’ll push it more maybe get some new ones out of them from what service said was that the bearings and u-joints were shot and the lockouts wouldn’t fully engage idk I’m not good with the new stuff but I’ve been around the old stuff long enough that it doesn’t make sense to me
