71 F250 Auto shift collar

Had it towed by AAA couple a years ago, driver pulled it out of park on the tilted bed. Need I say more. Been researching, sent Numberdummy a PM just figured I follow up with a post as well. Anyone know if this Dorman 83242 part is a match ? Says 73-77 but looks correct to me.

Thanks in advance, been a while sorry for the reclusiveness. Havent had a lot of reason to be on here. Trying to change that.

Cheers, Bobby

Original 1965/72 A/T collar had the shift pointer made as part of it. Ford replaced it in 1973 with a collar that uses a separate shift dial pointer.

This new collar has a slot in it for the plastic shift dial pointer to fit into.

D5TZ-7228-A (replaced C5TZ-7228-A, C9TZ-7228-A, D3TZ-7228-A) .. A/T Shift Collar Kit - Includes D3TZ-7A110-A Plastic Shift Dial Pointer / Obsolete ~ Available NOS & from auto parts stores (Dorman).

1965/77 F100/350 / 1973/77 Bronco // 1965 Falcon/Comet/Fairlane.

Shift dial pointer shown as 7A110 in parts catalog pic at upper left. Notice slot in the collar (7228) for the pointer to slide into.

Update:

The Dorman kit does fit. Also comes with a pointer, spring and shear pin. Fits pretty tight compared to old one but expected. 34.00 on amazon/ebay etc.. 4 days delivery
