good morning missouri...........johnT.. i dont feel too bad about not knowing the bearing was going out.. i went up and took alan out to lunch, just to get another opinion about the strange noise.. the dang truck just wouldnt make the noise long enough to get a good diagnoses of the problem.. then it went smooth out after i got home

greyghost.. i think johnT is trying to insinuate that at times i may be a little abusive to my old trucks........ but we all know that cant be true.. i baby all of my equipment!!!.....

Taking Mom to her (hopefully) last appointment for her foot. Dad has a dr appointment this afternoon and then maybe I'll be done for the weekend. I need to start cutting out the patch for the '71's cab mount and get it bent into shape.

BJ came and visited today to help me get my new rear installed. All went pretty smooth.
I took it out for a drive and I'm now about to get around 65 mph at the same rpm I was running 50 before. Now I'm more motivated to get my truck ready for Truckstock.
There are a couple of issues that needed to be addressed when going from an old Dana 60 to a newer one (1972 or older).
The newer yoke is larger so I had to find a combination U-Joint. The one that fits my situation is the Precision 353
Also, the brake lines on the new rear are smaller. So I had to get a reducer from the main line to the rear.
Here is the original u joint and how it is too short for the new yoke.
Here you can see the adapter I had to put on the line.
Here is the rear before being installed.
