MA November 2018 BS Thread - Give Thanks The White Crap Isn't Here Yet
#406
Thanks John, its a recent life change, and one that I feel will be for the better. It is some interesting timing for sure but im happy to be around to see it go up and be able to add minor things too it by being here.

I have a few thoughts in mind, but right now it will be cold storage. I have a pellet stove that I am thinking of using once there is power there, but I have also thought about wood stoves, and or even doing propane heat. I think the pellet stove will be the cheapest in the long run, thou we will have to see.

Wish I had a building that size and the land to put it on..

I had thought of putting it in but with not being sure of how I am going to heat the building or anything I didnt think it would be worth the extra cost to install something I might never use. Im putting this together on a shoe string budget lol.

Yeah Its certainly an awesome build, I had one chance to really do something big and I took it. Granted timing in life now makes me wonder but Im just going to keep moving forward and make it happen.

A friend of mine has a small shop but a little bigger than my 24X24 with in floor heating and he used one of those heat on demand water heater controlled by a thermostat, shop is nice and warm and great if you are crawling under a vehicle in the winter but even rigid Styrofoam insulation under the concrete helps a lot, a must if you do the in floor heating though. You could always do a small section for the comfort factor. I wish I had done it..

I'd plan an area where you might want to put in a lift too and put an extra deep of concrete too in case you decide to in the future..

Are you sectioning off the building so you can heat one area more that the other rather than the whole building..?
#418
There will be a smaller section of the building but that will be for the wood shop, so I will end up with the ability to heat areas differently, thou again not sure how I will do it. A lot of it will also depend on when I get electricity out there

Well still wish I had that much area to play in...lol Just thought I'd ask some questions and make sure you've thought everything out before it's a no go...lol

I appreciate it. The area is going to be awesome, and its one of those things that you get to kind of do once in life. Im debating later on adding a smaller say 24x26 or so, and that one would get more of the creature comforts for cold weather working.
