Hello I am a new member and Problems with the DVD

Hello together,

my Name is Lena and I am from Germany. I bought an Ford Excursion 6.0L PowerStroke with 205.000 miles on it from 2003 it is an US Modell not for the European Country and I love this car and my children too. Please, excuse my writeing if it something is not perfekt. But I hope you could help me.
We had problems with the original rear DVD. It works, but not with german DVDs. Maybe the Region Code is Not für European Countrys. If it´s possible to chance this code? I read that the Code für Amerika and Kanada ist 1 and für Europe it is No.2 and all our original bought DVDs had this code.

Best wishes from germany

Lena

Hi Lena, welcome to the Excursion forum!

I’m doubtful it can be changed, but If you google “DVD Region Codes How to Overcome Them” you might get lucky.

Hello Sean,

many thanks for you answear. I was searching the hole day in the Internet, the result was that it could be possible, but just for newer Cars. For a few minutes I talked to an US Car seller in Germany and he told me thats possible but not for a Ford. Maybe we find another way or we must change the hole system.

Or buy some used videos from the USA. Depending on your tastes, they’re pretty cheap; not sure how much the Deutsch customs would charge you.

that would be possible. I think the charge would be not so much. But for the children it could be a problem or is it possible to change the language on us DVDs? They are just 6 years old an there englisch is not good. On the other side they would learn by watching! :-)
I try to use DVDs with Region „0“ but it doesn`t work..really just Region „1“

This is not an easy solution but you *could* install a dual DIN stereo up front and use it to control the DVD in back.

A double DIN player is a nice upgrade in an Excursion for other reasons too, including Bluetooth, USB, and the possibility of a backup camera.

hello again, we first tried to find DVDs for the region 1 which run in German but that does not work. Now we have followed the advice of Triton and installed a new radio with DVD! Run great, thanks for the tip!

best wishes from Germany

There's many options I think.

If you own the original DVD's already, get Elaborate Bytes CloneDVD and RedFox AnyDVD software (check if it still allows you to change region code ...or entirely remove it... during the clone procedure).

I think this link shows the region codes by country associated: https://www.winxdvd.com/resource/con...-code-dvds.htm

GhostDVD should also be able to create your backup copy of your original DVD using the Germany region code.

Legally speaking as long as you own the original copy, you should be able to make a copy to preserve your original...but check if that's a problem in Europe (region 2). Since it's Europe, just be very sure what you do is legal!

Hello Thor363,

thanks for the idea and the link for the website. I Download the Premium Version and Taste it. But the Problem is that our System also the region 0 DVDs does not want to play! It must be explicitly region 1. A change from 2 to 1 is not possible with WinX DVD. Or I do not find the right step. Maybe you can tell ne how it is possible to do this. In the meantime I bought a Region 0 original DVD but it doesn't work.

Best wishes Lillith
