High oil pressure blowing oil filter gasket

Hello all, i’m New to posting on this forum but not to coming here for advice. Usually I can find answers to any question I have without need for posting. That said I have a 2000 v10 excursion that has high oil pressure blowing the filter gasket. I have changed the oil and used different filters( now using a Mobil 1 filter it seems to hold pressure longer before blowing due to the gasket being twice as thick as purolator, fram) and using the recommended oil. Any help or thread that speak to this would be greatly appreciated,

Have you measured the actual oil pressure so far? Its not the easiest thing to do temporarily adding an actual pressure test gauge to the Modular Motors but could be well worth the time.

I myself have never heard of this condition so its very odd---typically the oil pressure heads downward over time.

Check the actual oil pressure first, then if it's really too high, the problem is the pressure relief in the oil pump. Also not the easiest to get to - it's behind the timing cover on the crankshaft itself.

Is it a double gasket situation? Have you visually checked with a flashlight while you are replacing the filter?

Good point. Had a gasket stick when I was teenager and installed the new filter on top of it. To this day I visually make sure the old gasket came off with the old filter.
