The seat of the pants feel in the 250's with the same gears and exact same set up is very noticeable. Not sure how much of that is the transmission though.
That is correct; only the CCLB gets the 48 gal tank. My SCLB only has the 34 gallon tank. (sad sigh ......)
Yeah, that's especially rough when towing "Out West" where the signs say "no services for 130 miles" . . . . The trouble there is that you find yourself filling up when you still have 1/2 tank of fuel . . . .
I carry a Type 2 5 gallon gas can cabled into the box of my truck just in case.
He's pulling a 12.5K 5th wheel and it will be a F350 2x4 with 4.30 gears so it will have the heavier transmission.

If he's ordering an F350 6.2 4.30 4x2, then:
The largest wheels and tires from the factory are 18" with 275/65R18E A/S.
According to Ford, the 275/65R18E A/S tires are fairly small: 652 revs per mile
The spare wheel and tire are the same sizes as the road wheels and tires
Max official GVWR is 10,600 lbs. (CCSB) or 10,900 lbs. (CCLB). Installing 275/70R18E tires after delivery unofficially raises the GVWR to by ~ +400 lbs.
The highest 4x2 trim level is the King Ranch
The optional Camper Package (rear sway bar and stiffer front springs) is available
Only the CCLB offers the 48 gallon fuel tank; CCSB is 34 gallons
It's my understanding that optional 5th wheel prep kits are now available from the factory for the 4x2
The F350 6.2 is fitted with the 6R140 AT, not the 6R100
