Cool 99 5.4 4X4 4r100 no drive after pump replacement

I picked this truck up for cheap. A previous owner managed to break off the input shaft to the transmission while replacing the engine. He sold it to someone that put a new pump in it.
The truck did move with the snapped shaft but nothing with a "remanufactured" pump from Ebay. I bought it from that guy.

I have a few suspects to check out. I'm going to drop the pan 1st and see if the filter fell off or something obvious like that. I'm also going to verify it's the right pump. Any other ideas? If worse comes to worse I'd love to throw a manual in it.

I have a pressure gauge on the way from Amazon

I'm thinking even if the new pump was weak or if an O ring got knicked it would still try and do something?

The engine idles up when you put it in a gear but nothing else happens. Even with the truck on jack stands.

Thanks in advance. I've never messed with one of these transmissions.

Pulled the pan down. Filter was in place with the O ring. Bottom/ intake of the pump looks dry. I'm wondering if they forgot the center shaft.

What did you want help with? You listed a lot of things that you're going to do. You did ask one question, and the answer is that it might or might not do something if the o-ring were nicked or the pump was weak. It depends on how bad those are.
