Cooling Charge in Street Cars
So, I'm drawing up a build for a street car, capable of being driven to and from work every now and then or for long drives to events and such, with impressive boost. My build is based on 400+ci block that should be running in the upper 600ph range when N/A. I want to boost it with a procharger into the 800 range, so the issue I'm working on now is charge temperature and ignition control when running pump gas. The first problem is I'm from the South, so the air is already hot as heck, and then add in about 18 pounds of pressure and the charge temperature is a little out of control. The first option I looked into was a water injection system offered with the F1 Pro Charger, but I would then have to refill the water tanks as I drive around. I looked at Bosch's/BMW's system, and it looked like a load of extra fabrication and work to install on a carbed LS3, so I looked again into the F1 kit and then more at some water-to-air intercoolers. I was wondering how many people were playing with these numbers in street cars instead of strict track cars, and if I could get some suggestions as to what would get the job done and keep charge cool, while not being a total drag to set up and install, as well as maintain.
