If you do things will get real ugly, busted diff gears, blown drive shafts, broken transfer cases.
Absolutely. The guy with the axle doesnt know the ratio and finding it out ‘by hand’ is not super scientific. How close would the ratio need to be? Say I know mine to be 6.50 and I ‘calculate’ the other ratio to be 6.30 or something, how far could they be apart? Of course assume I will not be climbing rocks, the truck would be only in 4x4 for mud or ice/snow

6.50 and 6.30 would be about the max, for mud and slippery situations at low speeds. In pickups as OEM, they keep the differences in the 100ths, not the 10ths. (4.09/4.10, 3.55/3.50 for example)

With 6.50's and 6.30's in mud and snow you'd get by, as soon as it got on hard surface things would bind up.
Kinda defeats the use of driving in 4x4 on partially snow covered roads.
As said ratio's need to be close.
