Body side molding question

What was used to attach the body side moldings on a 1990 F250? Double sided tape, adhesive like 3M or ?

You can use some of this stuff.I recently had a strip come off my truck and used this.It wont be coming off again! Stuff is super strong.Messy but strong.I picked it up at my local autozone.
