2019 F-350 18" VS 20" Wheel Pkg.
#16
Hm. We are planning to order a 2019 F350 CCSB next month. Lariat trim, diesel, SRW. We have done a little looking, and it seems like every Lariat we saw had the chrome package and 20" wheels. I don't want either. I had figured that the 18's with 3.55 would be better for towing (we have already ordered the 5th wheel!) plus I would think the cost of replacement tires would be less. I didn't think that the ride would be any much different - you really noticed that big a difference? I do appreciate the back thing, we are all getting older and we plan to do a lot of driving with the truck and camper. Any other comments on wheels appreciated. I also figured that I'd spring for the electronic locker, which I thought was a $350 option but my wife thinks not. Either way, I'd like it. Any comments on that appreciated too.
HRTKD - Did you have an option on which 18's? There are a couple this year, IDK which is any better or if it's just cosmetic.

My truck came with18's Continental tires. Lariat trim super cab without the camper package no chrome but 4x4
I got good where out of the Continentals but the tread was so small that they picked up a lot of small rocks.

I ordered my Lariats with the cheapest simplest tires ford would put on the truck. Which were 18" All season.
I immediately drove over to the tire store and bought the 20x9 wheels and 295x65r20 tires that I wanted.
I didn't pay the $1100-$1200 for 20" tires that Ford charges or the $1300 dollars for the Chrome package. I got $800 for the factory take offs when I sold them online. So I ultimately saved money over ordering the 20's from Ford
And I really didn't like the Ford PVC chrome wheels.
I don't feel a big difference between the 20's vs the 18's. As mentioned the sidewall of a 35" tall 20" tire is not that much difference than the sidewall of a 33-34" tall 18" tire.
The final drive ratio is about the same on a 35" tire with the 3.55 gears as the 34" tire on the 3.31 gears. So fuel mileage almost the same. The slight difference is probably due to a 80 lbs tire vs a 70 lbs tire.
I haul a 13,000 lbs 4H GN trailer all over Utah, Wyoming and Idaho and it pulls great. The 295x65r20 tires have a 4080 load capacity vs the lower tire rating of the smaller OEM tires. And I'm getting close to my axle rating with my GN trailers. So I like the extra load capacity
