Does this look like a 560HP 460 C.I.D ?

I saw this 87 f350 4wd on craigslist for $1900. Guy says it 560HP and 673 torque. But there is only one way to find out, I have to see it in person. But I want to know what you guys think, I have never built one myself.

Owner:
F-350 4x4 with Built 460 Ford motor: dyno tested at 673 foot-pounds torque and 560 hp, recently fresh; complete MSD ignition 6a electronic box, wires and distributer; ported DOVE heads; JE pistons; Edelbrock aluminum intake and Holly carb; Crane 1:1.7 rockers; 3.5" to 4" JBA exhaust with headers; C-6 B&M equipped transmission; Chrome-Molly push rods

Well the hack job unequal length exhaust gives 20hp, all the stickers on the hood probably 50hp each, the bang up wiring job another 100hp, there is no way anyone would spend 6k doing a build that made that much power and have their engine bay look that hammered. Just look at the overall condition and the stock looking C6, I bet its stock.

That upside down K&N screen is whats makin all that power....ask him for a dyno print out. Otherwise he is adding up all the supposed gains from what the manufacturers claim and adding them to stock HP is he way I'd view it.

Test drive it. Who knows if he's being honest; lack of organization under the hood doesn't mean it's not a runner, and only one way to figure that out.

I'd want to know exactly where he got those numbers from. By the looks of it, I'd highly doubt it makes anything close to that kind of power. I'd ask a lot of specific questions about it. What cam is in it, what is the lift and duration, is it bored/stroked, what kind of head work was done, who did the work and when.

If he can't give you specific answers, he's full of it.

A big stack of dated receipts is always helpful.

X2 on receipts. This site has a "cook book", and, of course, there are several ways to that kind of power with a 460. Carb and manifold are easy to see, pistons and cam should be in that receipt pile.

It's bogus. He's absolutely positively not making 673 lb/ft with a naturally aspirated 460 on 87 octane, or 93 for that matter. Hp claims are not far off of a healthy 460 build, but the dove heads would have to be thoroughly ported by a competent porter.

So, it's bogus for sure, but stupid doesn't mean deceitful. Ask if it's hp at crank or at the wheels? If he says it's at the wheels, he's even dumber than we thought, or it's increasing the odds that he's being deceitful. See how it runs, and with what cfm carb.

It probably runs pretty good, but it 673 lb/ft will burn the tires off regardless what they are.

That truck would have been wrecked shortly after installation if it had that much power. Tire tread would be a clue, if it has any.

You can bore scope it and measure the cam specs to see what's inside.

People add up the advertised power increase of all of the parts and think it actually works that way.

Start a thread over on the forum in the link above. It should be fun. Someone should clip and paste this OP over there.

I suspect that there was a "magic wand" waved over it. You could probably tell more looking at the magic wand.

6500 lbs and 560 HP should get you 1/8 mile in under 9 seconds, 1/4 mile under 14 at 108mph.

I would expect a truck like that to be breaking driveline components or going through tires like candy.

A test ride should reveal if it is capable of any of the above.

550 isn't enough to blow parts up, especially if driven sensibly. The auto would have to be built, of course, but the axles can certainly handle the power. I get about 35k miles out of tires with the dodge in my sig.

It's not ludicrous power, but he's still not making 560 hp and that much torque with a naturally aspirated stock cube 460 in a truck. If I had to guess, based off info given (no cam specs), I would say 350/500 is best it has. Which, would be an enjoyable ride.
