Yes, the "Roller" is different, I know because I mistakenly ordered a kit for a F150 and it did not fit my 250.

Is the ball stud included with either the strut or the roller?

How did you get it installed and dance at the same time?

True, but it's over $20 more for the kit vs. ordering the individual parts.

I mistakenly bought the F150 kit and it did not come with the ball, just the strut and the tailgate hinge.

Also on my 2018 F350 I think it was already threaded because it went in fairly easily

I mistakenly bought the f150 kit, and no part of it will work. The damper has the wrong ends on it, the hinge is different, and you do not get a ball stud to screw in.
Fairway Ford let me ship it back and shipped me the correct kit for no additional cost, so thumbs up to buying from them!

Also rust-oleum high perdormance wheel paint in color 248927, steel is a really good match for the ingot silver for our trucks. I picked up a can at walmart.

Thanks for all of the replies everyone! Very helpful. Also, thanks to @jstiltner for the heads up about the ignot silver paint at walmart. I will for sure be doing that.

I am going to order the kit, because it is much different than the f150 install. A lot of these parts seem compatible with the f150, so I wanted to ensure I was doing this correctly before placing the online order. Many thanks!

Has anyone found the part # for the ball stud? Can you buy it separately?

W713029S439SUB is the Ball stud part number.

I couldn't find it on line. It came with the Ford Damper kit. Perhaps a call to Ford dealer parts dept?

New user here so a bit late to this thread. I want to order the tailgate damper for my 2017 F250 but one site states that Ford has discontinued the kit. I think the individual parts can still be ordered. Has anyone heard that Ford has discontinued the kit?

Just ordered my OEM a few minutes ago from Tasca. Hopefully I won't get the Discontinued note when they see the order, probably Monday.

I asked in the comments section of the order if these are the only 2 parts needed.

Total
$43.35

I just installed the factory kit on my 2019 F350 yesterday. Easy to do and I love the fact it's totally hidden versus the Deezee kit, To make it easy to put the ball stud in the bed, I tapped the hole from the backside first instead of trying to self tap the threads with the stud like the directions show. So much easier.
