Clutch bump into transmission

Hello all,

Any help would be appreciated

While stopped, in neutral and clutch pedal up at let's say at a red light (or stop and go traffic).....Ill press down the clutch when I see its time to prepare to engage in first gear....as I slowly let go of the clutch and rev up the throttle... I feel and hear a loud bump engage something. It's actually quite surprising to say the least....afterwards ill just depress the clutch and put it in gear and off I go. I don't have any problems in other gears or any other times. The Bronco II has a new engine and rebuilt transmission. Just started doing this and its been at least 8 months since new eng and tranny.

Your thoughts?

thank you

Could it be a rear end problem (U-Joint), perhaps? Mine is doing this, as well (automatic trans) and my mechanic suggested this.

I just had a mechanic watch me drive the car and said it is slipping out of first gear

the tranny was rebuilt with less then 6000 miles on it and the tranny place asked me to hold the stick firmly in first as I let go the clutch and see if that keeps it from happening
so far it looks to work fine as long as I do that
i will still need to bring it to the tranny place so they can adjust something ....that's what I was told

thanks for replying

it's a ghost town over here LOL

So glad you got confirmation on your trans issue. Yes, it is hard to get replies on some topics. Sadly, it seems a lot of the discussions and replies are more about the new Rangers and Bronco's coming out in the near future, rather than the original gems. Hoping to see a revival of the old products when the new ones pass their initial launch excitement!

Also, I only subscribe with a weekly digest, so it takes me a week to respond, depending on when the post is made and I think I can contribute an answer. Perhaps others do the same and that explains the lag in responses on other posts, to. Best wishes with your vehicle!
