Thoughts?
I am thinking about going to look at this truck. I have restored a few 40's jeeps before, but no cars/trucks. I really like the 38-47 body styles. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Go for it, nice truck with potential. Not many sixes out there.

I have 3 jailbar one ton pickups. I don't have any fenders even close to that nice. The long running boards are missing on your CL find and harder to find than a tailgate. My tailgates are really beat and rusty at the bottom. I'm making one best truck out of the 3, another to build into a small wrecker for my junkyard and the third pretty much yard art. These are great trucks and that looks like a good one. Not popular to restore being a tonner, so it may sit on CL a while. Make him an offer. The wheels are oddball with pretty much nothing available in that bolt pattern to replace the split rims. They ARE good wheels though. Tough to source the 7.50 x 17s but available. Good luck!

Is there an easy way to tell a 42 from a 46 or 47?
There are some 42 features on this blue truck: ss door handles, chrome speedometer bezel, chrome glove box ****, reverse lever and rod on the gear shift lever.
Newer features on this truck are the embossed ford insignia on the hood and the steel headlight bezels. Possibly the front end was replaced at some time.

Also the 4 speed transmission in non synchronized. You will need to double clutch your shifts. Some of us like doing this, some don't. On my first tonner I grafted two sets of running boards together to create the long style needed. On a later tonner I made long running boards from wood and painted them.
