Forscan Misfire Questions

Try a 50:50 mix of a good quality tranny fluid & acetone, warm the troublesome fastener, apply a few drops & let it soak in, then try loosening. If no joy, repeat the heating & application, then apply loosening torque, block the wrench to the loosening torque value you want so its constantly applied, maybe add another drop or two of the homemade rust buster to the warmed fastener & take a break & see if it'll respond, as things cool & shrink & suck in the lube.

Running much better using the Techron fuel too.
Now I'm fighting the blower fan and fuel gauge. lol
Just replaced the fan motor because it wasn't coming on except on high unless I tapped on it. Now it's doing it again except it doesn't come on at all when tapped, but runs in high. This morning I noticed the headlights would flash when I switch it on (high), does the fan motor use that much power or is this a sign of something else ?

Ok good find & feedback. If you now have the connector & its pins/sockets cleaned up really well, butter some good quality di-electric grease onto the pin/socket combo & plug it in & out a few times to spread the grease & maybe it'll help keep the corrosion down some. If you'll clean up the resistor pack too & spray some CRC Heavy DutySilicone Spray onto it, it'll help keep dust & moisture down in that area also. I use the silicone spray on the top of my batteries so they stay cleaner & cut down on surface leakage. The Ranger Motorcraft battery is going on 11 years now, its squeaky clean on top so still looks new.
More thoughts for consideration.

I ended up replacing the fan blower resistor the other day, it started doing the same again. I need to get in that connection and really scrub it out.
Yesterday the AC clutch started making noise, took the belt off and it seems to have failed completely. The pulley has alot of play. I need to figure a way to replace it or bypass it.

Beatnik, you may want to poke around further down the site in the HVAC area and make a post as needed. The AC clutches are not bad to replace, and the slop in the pulley indicates a bearing failure. You do not have to evacuate/refill to replace the clutch bits.
You do have to check the clearance when installing, and shim as needed.
FWIW, the downstream O2 sensors are 'checkers' only, to determine cat efficiency/effectiveness. They should generally run at a steady voltage number. They can fail, and will throw a code if they do. The upstream cats will/should switch a lot, and definitely can affect fuel economy if they are real sluggish. (better than most carbs, though)
