Thumbs down Air bags

Received another re-call letter from Ford yesterday. Got another letter last April,
guess what? Dealer still has no parts! Ugh.

I am in the same boat with an '04 and an '08.
I am also a member of the "Ford Ranger Nation" on Facebook and there is a rather lengthy discussion there and some folks are reporting getting theirs done, some not.....
Our family's '04 was done about 2-3 years ago, and according to Ford they need to be replaced again....
I have asked, and wonder IF TAKATA is supplying the replacement units...
I also asked if the BAGS and INFLATORS are a 1 piece part?
AND...….How will we know and be assured that we have NON-exploding inflators installed AFTER the recalls are performed?

I was getting up to three flyers a day and letter at least twice a week. I told them I was not going to the dealership after my last few bad experiences there, not to mention this is an 06 3.0 truck with the recessed valve problem I had to deal with.

They ended up doing mine at my house in the driveway on their dime and my schedule. I felt it was the least they could do after me dealing with a clattering code throwing motor for 297,000 miles, then buying a crate motor.

I believe that somehow Ford figured out that '06 was the worst year for the defective air bags/inflators.....
Considering this, in your case I think that not only should Ford have replaced your air bags, they should also install a brand new engine in your truck on their dime....
Bottom line, we all didn't buy our trucks from Takata, we bought them from Ford and Ford needs to make our trucks right.....

Sad, but most companies don't recall anything unless it's a safety/news worthy issue. I babied it and just left the scanner hooked up to turn off cel's, almost got 300k out of it. I read a lot didnt get to 100k.

They were leaving cards on the door at the house and finally standing in my driveway when I pulled in. He got an earfull from me. They stood me up the first appointment (no show, no call) and I gave him another earfull. Told him most of theae are probably scrapped, never to be found.

They have a Ford recall team and labled cars they drive.

Ford rented my sister-in-law a car last summer after she asked them (in so many words) who her next of kin could hold responsible if something bad happened. She has been driving it since early August.

Oh, believe me they are going to provide me a loaner for the '08 I'm buying next month, they just don't know it yet.

Does anyone know if in fact Takata IS making and supplying the replacement bags? How can we trust them to not be supplying the same exact defective bags.....
