I feel like my horn does not compress enough. Does the button push down in a “springy” or does the button just “rock” to the sides?

They don't press down very much. I think mine only moves about an 1/8". They are not as springy as the earlier trucks and cars with the big coil spring under the horn button.

My issue is that if I set it up like the bottom pic, is the wire can slip thru the middle of the prongs. Is that what it is supposed to do?

Here is a photo of how it goes together.

The dome goes down and the tabs set on the shoulder of the wire connector. When you press the horn button, the outside edge of the ring will touch the copper plated cover underneath and complete the connection from the horn wire to ground.

A few more questions. Is the spring installed like pic 1 or 2 (confusing myself with asking about done) also in the last pic, my wire end washer slides alsmost freely they the spring, certainly not like the pic shown. Any ideas? This is so simple, but still confused! Lol

The spring is installed like pic #1, but the tips of the spring should set on top of the flange of the wire connector and hold it down against the insulator. Is your spring a repop? It looks like the distance between the tips of the fingers is too wide to set on top of the wire connector flange. The flange on the wire connector may be too small also. In my photo you can see the spring tips setting on the connector flange. My spring is original and so is the wire connector.

it is a new wire from....LMC so that should be enough information as to why it isn't correct. I can pull that wire and metal end thru the disk without touching. I have tried to bend the prongs in to touch, but that flattens the disk. Can a brass washer be used under the wire end do you think?

You could solder a brass washer to the connector under the flange. Just slipping a brass washer on the connector under the flange wouldn't hold the wire down, but it may still work just fine.
