6.4 mileage

Got 6.4 with 250 000 km on it

the old tuner wouldnt let the truck read the egr delete... got a new tuner (live wire ts+)

my mileage is garbage... 18-21 l/100 km or 11-12 mpg...

this means I only 450 km (280 miles) a tank at best.

the wrench light on the truck is still on... my mechanic tells me this is nothing that affects the operation of the truck..

Any help is appreciated

First I would find a new mechanic. Anybody that says the wrench light is not big deal wouldn’t be working on my truck.

So the egr is deleted?

11-12 mpg is pretty average for a stock 6.4. They were never known for good mileage.

EGR and DPF are both deleted.
the difference between city driving and towing is nothing.

But this means I only get 280 miles out of a tank if i'm lucky.

Should I not be closer to 10 or 11 l/100km (20mpg) highway 18 mpg city and maybe 17 mpg towing?

Or is this just how diesel trucks are.
It seems to depend on who I talk to. One guy had a Dodge 2500, drive 260 miles and used just over a 1/4 of a tank. Is he lieing?

Would a 6.7 be better?

My 6.4 was deleted and tuned. I averaged around 13 mpg around town and 17-18 mpg on the highway.

It does seem seem like I have read that the 6.7 is better on the mileage, but these trucks are still heavy so you aren’t going to get anything too crazy.

I need to take mine on the highway without towing... All I do is city and tow...
So i guess 18-20 l/100km is on par.

I just got 18 mpg from Ky to GA with an 18 foot flatbed trailer. I also got 18 on a 3 and a half hour round trip with a 16 foot gooseneck stock trailer with 2 horses in it

Are you sure a tune is loaded that's disabled the regen cycle?
also what boost level are you seeing driving around, and on flat ground at highway speed?

mine was tuned and deleted and got under 20mpg at 100kmh and when I disconnected the vvt actuator as an experiment I hit 20 or just a tad over. Some of the tunes are ridiculous and would run 10 to 20 psi boost down the flat highway and that robbed power.

I always had bad mpg

My truck seems to get the same , or darn close to the same mileage, no matter what. It can be full of 2000 lbs. of wood, or empty. Of course i get a bit better on the highway, but the closer to 2000 rpms the better the mileage. I have always got 12 in the city and 14 on the highway . 6.4 f350 LB Crew Cab DRW

Im not deleted, have the egr, dpf, cat, etc, stock tune. I get the same on stock config. but with 50/50 methonal injection I sometimes get as high as 22 highway. not really amazing because methanol is a fuel and it cost money so no real save.
