It does have the bigger FT Exh manifolds....... But that is still doesn't mean it not a FE engine.

FT exhaust manifolds would mean FT heads. Also, look at the intake below the carb. The lumps in the casting for the FT center cast heat passages shows there, just barely.

The manifolds could have been blocked off, but with an FT intake as well, the last external clue would be the crank diameter--you can't fake that.

uh oh

the 2bbl 330HD may be near the end of it’s life span. does anybody know if the 330 HD add ons (water pump, power steering, etc.) are interchangeable with a new 361 crate engine? or know of a currently manufactured engine they are synonymous with? any recommendations on a vendor for a new engine? looking to swap in some new life, 4bbl and electronic ignition. thanks in advance.

also so would like it to mate up with the current NP 435 transmission.

FT motors are almost always interchangeable across the board. Later models like the 389 and 359 might have some differences in the carb etc, but the front cover that serves as an engine mount, and the bell housing, which serves as a rear mount, work for all motors all years.

Thus the NP 435 will bolt up to your bell and your bell will bolt up to any FT.

I am not 100% sure on flywheels, and a 391 might have had a slightly larger clutch than a 330, but it will all bolt up. The question on flywheels is one of balance.

All the accessories should bolt right up.

No current engine shares so much as a washer with an FT.

361 and 391 had 4bbl available as OEM, so those manifolds can be found, and not always at the end of an anchor chain.
