Driving observations from my neighbor

Have had my 7.3 for 11 years now, problem is I have driven my stepsons '17 F250 Lariat 6.7 and it's nice and my wife and I are thinking about getting a new truck. Love my truck and it's reliable/paid for but the 6.7 is awful powerful. Just the payment will suck! Will still keep the 7.3 though.

I suspect one day my 7.3 will no longer be a viable option. I mean I cannot expect the truck to last another 20 or 30 years.
At that time, I hope that the 6.7 has proven itself as the new 7.3 because I do believe it is a great engine. The problem is the 100 computers in the truck...
Anyway, hopefully by the time my 7.3 leaves us, the 2015+ 6.7's will be affordable and reliable past 10 or 15 years.
That is my take on the off topic subject.

If I need to buy another super duty, it will more than likely be the gas variety. The new trucks are superior in many ways and the gas power will be sufficient for my use. Did a good bit of towing a fairly light trailer/load today of about 6K and was using the street shredder tune with a max of 800 EGT with hills. Eazy peazy.

I had always thought the gas trucks suffered greatly while towing vs the diesels. Even my 19 year old truck gets 13 MPG with our 10k lbs trailer in tow.

I didn't know what I bought almost two months ago. It's the first truck I've ever bought. But a 2003 f350 7.3... I didn't know. . It's a sought after amazing truck. I'm thoroughly pleased. I'll probably drive it and keep it until it dies on me. It's got 202k miles, so I think it'll be a while. And yes. ... your neighbors observations are spot on. . I notice myself not being in a hurry in my truck.I generally set my cruise control to 2k on the tack, 69ish mph. And just cruise. I don't particularity think these things are built for speed. But if I wanted it would pull my 4.3k lb boat all day long at that same speed with the cruise control and never down shift. But for the sake of safety I set the cruise to about 58, and slight grades I only hear the turbo wind up a bit. .. it's a good fn truck. ..

I take this as a compliment when it happens to be. Happened just last week. Pulled up the the stop light, met with a dirty look from the car to my left followed by the window rolling up. I laughed, and had thought about throwing it into high idle for good measure.

There is one woman in our neighborhood who walks through twice daily, and if I pass her in my truck, she ALWAYS claps her hands over her ears and shakes her head as if I were driving a freight train. She finally quite walking our street a couple years ago.
Several years back, I drove several co-workers to lunch one day in my truck. Upon getting out of the truck at the restaurant, one of them (owner of a much newer F150) looked at me and said "And I thought that I had bought a man-truck, but yours is a REAL-MAN TRUCK!

I gave a friend a ride a few years back and he commented on how nice my school bus was.
I was the only diesel in my old neighborhood (13 years) and would park down the street to not bother all the neighbors when I left early for work. The neighborhood I live in now (just over a year) and there were already two 6.0Ls, a D-Max, and an Excursion (gasser) on the street so I fit right in.

I got my F350 in the spring went to my uncles to work on it he is a school bus contractor and still had 1 bus with the 444 in it at one time he had 6 when that one finally goes I will inherit a few parts that are on the shelf. It is a truck designed to work and not to go to soccer practice.
I can’t wait to start hauling firewood and get her under a load.

I still get offers to buy it from me though. "Sorry, not interested" is my reply.
