Wish me luck, I’m off to CT…

OK, I'm back from the wilds of NY and on my laptop. Southern people are friendly, helpful people, very willing to give a hand. Northeastern people are more inclined to cuss you, and kick you out of their way should you need some help. If they're in your way they won't be much inclined to get out of it until such time as they are ready and some have been known to shoot those who suggest that they move. As for NYC, you could pass there 7, or 8 times with no problem (as unlikely as that high number is), then the next time you encounter a back up that lasts for hours. I know a guy who sat on the George Washington Bridge for 4 hours on his way to Boston one time. I would never cross that bridge during the day. And north on 287 (I think it it) and 87 over the Tapanzee Bridge can be just as bad. For an extra hour or so one could go north on I-81 and take I-84 over and pass above the Big Apple.

Welcome to the Northeast Corridor! You get used to it after a while. There's pockets of good people out there, just gotta watch for 'em.
That drive from central CT to southern NJ is just a pain in the ***, especially pulling a trailer. If you time it right - say, 9-10AM on a weekday or 4AM Christmas morning - you can bust through the City OK. But any time outside of that and you're dealing with CT I-95 traffic, NYC traffic, outer boroughs traffic, and NJ Turnpike traffic. And then there's the tolls: roughly $100 round-trip through NYC and down the NJ Turnpike, double that if you're trailering past DC and back (I drive out 84 to Wilkes-Barre and then south on 81 to go to VIR in southern VA).
I go to NJMP several times a year and just really, really hate the drive; my slogan is "I like driving at New Jersey Motorsports Park; I hate driving to New Jersey Motorsports Park". Sad part is, there's an airport on the other side of the track, a 5-minute drive, but I can't seem to fit the race car into the Tiger...I'm going there next weekend so think of me...
