So I have had this happen twice in the past week. my radio would be fine, then gets really quiet, cant hear lyrics but music is still playing faintly. If i open and close the front passenger side door, it works again...I dont even know where to begin

Considering movement at the passenger door affects the radio I would suspect something like a ground wire over there not being tight. Many models have grounds bolted down behind the passenger kick panel, so that's where I would first look.

 

Usually, if you ever hear a buzzing sound or a static noise, it due to a bad ground wire/connection.
