90 300i6 F150 Starter Getting Hot

As the title says, I'm dealing with an infamous 300i6 problem. I know the starter gets hot from the exhaust wrapping around it, and it being close to the block. I replaced the starter yesterday, and it started just fine. Took it on a drive and when I got back, I shut it off, and went to start it again. It wouldn't even start because of how hot it got. This morning, I tool the starter off, taped off the connection spots, and the input area of the starter. I coated it in ceramic high heat paint. I let it dry, put it back on, and let the motor warm up to almost halfway. It seems to be restarting fine so far, but I'm scared to take it on a drive and rely on it to start again. Any suggestions on cheap material I can use as a heat shield, or? Thank you!

Trick we used to use with headers cooking started was cut a metal coffee can to fit around the starter. Leave a bit of an airgap and try that.
