Metal spirals in oil
I was changing my oil yesterday and I found about 10 spirals of metal. They kinda look like when you use a drill and the metal that comes off of the bit. It's a 5.4 Triton 2000 and it's got 244,000 is something bad happening or just wear. The engine gets routine oil changes but hits redline everyday the guy I bought it from had a heavy foot. The engine is very quiet and makes no noises and any rpms. Is the moter on the way out or just fine?

The motor would have to comer apart to find the cause.
At 244k and still running have patience it will show some day.
The places this could happen would be the main crank thrust bearing area, the cam chain tensioner hardware.
Look closely at the metal, is it steel or alum.?
This would indicate the parts that might be the cause like the front cover, therefore the cam chain tensioners are worn allowing the chain to hit the cover.

The metal had to be steel because they stuck to a magnet right? The engine is dead silent it doesn't make a noise. I checked the oil today. I changed it a couple days ago and it's free of metal that I can see. I ordered a blackstone oil sample kit today so we'll see what's really going on. Thank you very much
