not so much desperate for sales...I think its simple marketing and will help to get even more in the door to buy a new truck.
You can get a package level that would cost north of 40k on a truck that is slightly smaller for about 30k and get better fuel economy and near the same capacity and capability. The ONLY thing I think Ford may have screwed up on...instead of calling it the Ranger...I would have called it the F100 Ranger. Some may think it a good idea others would think it be a gimmick to pad their "F-series" sales claims...
My reason...my dads first truck was an F100...so some sentimentality there for me.
