Lack of gas
#16
The problem was the float valve. It is made of plastic. It was sticking in the up position. So gas could not flow. Replaced that with a brass one and replaced the the float needle housing (both old parts pictured below). Pressed the start button, bowl filled up and truck started right up and is running good. Now for a seat and might take it for a spin. Have a lead on a seat tomorrow at a local farm in a dump truck. Fingers crossed!

Well I replaced the fitting. It was not the issue but it was old so now it gone. The guys at Macs said the fitting was 3/8. It is not. It is 1/8 NPT. I used a 1/8 street elbow to 1/8 male by 1/4 barb to put rubber line on to fuel filter to shirt piece of rubber to copper.

Yes, that is a picture from the access panel in the floor of the cab. Sending unit is on the top, that 1/8 hole is on the back side of the tank between the tank and the frame. That is where I am drawing my gas. It did have a tube on the inside of the tank going down to the bottom of the tank. Still have to strap the tank down
sending unit (brand new) or fuel gauge is not working, that will be the next job. It has a good ground as I ran a spare wire right from positive side of battery to black wire in side of sending unit. Maybe the gauge has no power.

Tell me more about replacing the float valve
I’m having the same problem with my 86 F150 I6 300. The carb has been rebuilt and the fuel pump replaced. Still occasionally it acts like it’s out of gas and no gas is reaching the carburetor.
