Side mirrors on 56 f100
#46
Hi Jafo,
Is that your truck? Yours or not, it is nice!
I have a question - if it's yours - how do you keep the side mirrors from staying in place.
It seems that throughout the years, them begin to "jiggle/wiggle" loose.
These are my favorite type, not sure if originals but it's what came with my Dad's truck back in '56 (that I can recall)

Pic: TYPE 2 & 3 are Western Junior (aka west coast) mirrors.
TYPE 2 is the "swing-lock" type used 1967/79. TYPE 3 w/the 3rd 'steady rest arm' also used 1967/79 but mainly on Camper Specials as they stick out well past the cab.
Most people with 1973/79's prefer the TYPE 9, but I wouldn't consider using any of these mirrors on a 1953/56.

FYI, you are STILL the best source of resource I have EVER encountered on ANY website, regarding ANY topic! And I have a reasonably wandering mind, so I delve into all kinds of stuff, that I have no business playing with...
Sir, you are AWESOME!
Did I say it LOUD enough?
May I ask you, how does one keep them side mirrors from coming loose and jiggling/wiggling? I've managed to take them apart and look inside but I can't think of "how to". I wonder if type 4 is a correct representation of my mirror (round)
