F100wish build thread

Well the registration hurdles are past and I have the 56 registered in Manitoba. Sheldon from BTB trailer rentals brought it here for me and was awesome, highly recommend him! This is what I have planned:
1) 351W/AOD (have this already). 351W is from an 88 F150 and I will convert it to simplicity ie. carb, shorty headers, and Vintage Air. The engine will be undergoing a quick refresh and the AOD had 2,000 km since its rebuild (from a 86 E-150).
2) TCI coil spring IFS, and rear parabolic spring kit. Not sure about the 2 inch drop spindles - could use some advice here. TCI 351W motor mounts and frame master cylinder.
3) Champion rad and need to convert diff to posi - not sure yet if it is a 8 or 9 inch - the truck is 40 minutes from my home so I only get to work on it once a week or so. I do work on what I can bring home.
4) Trying to decide between Ford Escape power seats or having the bench reupholstered like the Glide benches.
5) Dakota digital gauges, ?power windows, Ididit column with column shift
6) paint it primer grey
7)Vintique Series 62 rims - 15 inch with 235/75 like Darcy Dubuque's truck.
8) Rear gas tank - anyone do the 22 gallon Mustang tank install?
9) American Autowire kit

That is about it for now.

Hood and fenders in the box

Yup gold leaf on the Ford logo, hood scoop is going

Passenger fender and inner fender are stripped and ready for straightening

Don't trash that hood scoop. It looks like a factory Big Job one and are somewhat uncommon. You shouldn't have a problem finding someone interested in it, if your not going to use it.

I have this hood scoop but mine it has reliefs for the center hood line on the 56. Thanks 51Dueller I will definitely be looking to selling it to someone who could use it for their truck.
"Yes, they were functional.* They were only on the Big Job trucks, F800 / F900 and larger.* There was a round hole ( approx 4" in diameter ) cut in the hood under the scoop.* A formed metal air duct attached to the carburetor and ran up to just under the hood, with a gasket of sorts to seal the assembly to the hood when closed. Their scoop was mounted through the hood with (6) 10-24 studs and nutted on the back side.** The scoops and the scoop grille are a diecast metal construction.* The grille was chromed from the factory. To my knowledge, the was not any water diverter* in the scoop assembly, but the air duct had a cable operated plate to close off the air flow for some reason when operating.* I have only seen pictures of the hood and air duct assembly.** There are exploded drawings in most 56 parts manuals from Ford." Wire wheeled the other side inner fender and the driver's fender. They are in pretty good shape with the usual pinholes above the headlights on the fenders.

Not as much bondo on this side but has a good dent on lower front.

Cleaned up nice.

Hi Rob, you have a pretty nice project going.
I had my inner fenders, air deflectors, grill, rad cradle and other front end parts sandblasted then primed and painted.

Rear diff is out and off for a rebuild. It had 3.96 gears so I opted for 3.50s instead to help keep rpms down at highway speeds.

Will take some work getting the front leaf spring pin out, it is in there good!

Heading off to the driveline shop for rebuild.

Polishing up the emblems, the grill emblem doesn't look so good. Anyone have a 1956 L side F100 side hood emblem? I only have the R side. I will repaint the red and black parts later.
