1965 F100 300 ci 6 cyl, T18 4 speed, engine is original and stock(for now).
Thinking it's time to replace the starter on the truck and thinking about going with a mini starter as there may be headers( or hedders as Headman spells it) in the trucks future.
Did a lot of searching here but didn't find any thing definitive.
Would like to know what folks have used that fit well and is working well. Specifics like brand, model(Power Master has a bunch) and where to buy would be great.I'm looking at the PowerMaster Power MAX Plus part# 9104. Anyone use one of those? That's the application PM gave me.
If using 1990s era starter works ( as I read a little about in some posts while searching) does it require any of the rewiring like the mini starters do? I wouldn't mind going that route if it works, less costly and easier to find if needing replacement when on the road.

I did mine, a '78 engine. I rewired as the online illustrations show for using an efi era starter. I also had to install a washer between the starter and the engine on each mount bolt to keep the starter from engaging when I got on it. *Note: is it possible to torque the hedmans out of the way enough to r&r a normal starter. I've done it. One thing to consider: normal starter, rebuilt, autozone, lasted 10 years, cost iirc $40 or thereabouts. Efi starter costs $100 rebuilt. Be sure to specify which trans you have, manual or auto.
