Ft carb

Going to look at a Holley/motorcraft? carb tomorrow For my 352 fe. Only problem is that that carb has something on the side where the throttle cable would hook up. What is that for? Can it be removed? I can get a pic of the carb if you don’t know what I’m talking about. Going to look at it tomorrow so fast help would be awesome thanks

A FT carb would have a governor. FT engine had carb and ignition governors to prevent engine and vehicle overspeed. I would not buy one for a 352. Is this a 2bbl or 4bbl?

It’s a 4bbl. Can it be removed? He only wants 25 bucks for it. If not I found a 4160 that should work good on the 352 just for 50

I'm not sure about removing the governor.

4160 could be perfect. I don't know enough about those and all the variations to be sure. Usually for standard 352 600 CFM with vacuum secondaries and, if you can do it, an electric choke is a good setup. $50 is a good price if it's sound. Look it over, check the shafts for any visible slop, cracks, etc. Check linkage for any butchery etc.

He went down to 30 so as long as it’s not cracked or anything I’m gonna jump. It does have electric choke. Now I have another question. I got the edelbrock intake on it and want to get rid of heat crossover because carb has been getting too hot. I won’t be running it in the winter so I’m not worried about that. I just ordered felpro gaskets that have that heat crossover pipe blocked. Will that be enough or does it need metal plates. Thanks for your help

I think some gaskets do the trick. Long discussion here:

The governor linkage on the FT carb comes off but there's nothing the connect a standard throttle linkage to, you have to change out the throttle shaft with one from a standard carb.
Not worth the trouble, there's other differences to but the throttle shaft kills it.
I used to cut out two small pieces of sheet metal to fit in the hole on a standard intake gasket for blocking the cross over.

1965/67 F100/350 352 used the Auto-Lite 2100 series 2V
