Well it appears that some here have had no issues.
Would have been nice to know what part number and such. And if visibility was improved.
I would not have asked but that the first info I saw was some horror stories about folks having heat and error code problems.....

I have been using Ebay specials for the last 6 years with zero issues. In the factory tail light it was a fantastic improvement. When I moved to the recon rear housings. The reflector and lens on them was not as good as factory so it was brighter but light was not directed as well as it could've been, sort of bands of light rather then just light. I have an 02 so its older then yours. However there shouldn't be a heat issue with your backup lights. You're realistically backing up for less then 5 minutes in a clip, for a light get hot enough to melt anything you're doing something wrong. As far as where to get it, some high quality options would be diode dynamics, super bright LEDs or you can opt for some ebay specials.
there should not be an error code for a backup light. Turn signals and brake lights frequently cause can bus errors j the newer trucks but not backup lights.
