00 Expy overhead power

Is it a seperate lcd from the radio? Most backup cameras are integrated with an aftermarket radio. Where are you mounting it? The biggest issue would be pulling power from your overhead display and causing a low power issue and harming the display. If your mounting it on the dash you could pull power from the red (ignition) wire to the radio.

I opted to not do a double in install at this time. Right now I have the LCD mounted right above the mirror and to the right of the upper console. It takes less than 1A to run. It only turns the screen on when the camera puts out a signal
In the future I may upgrade to a double din, but I will likely keep the upper display anyway, use it to monitor a different vantage point.

Didn't see a connector to match C941, used the top pins of C911. Worked great! And made me reailize I scrubbed the **** out of the camera lense as it's been bouncing around the back of the truck lately. Had to order a new camera lol.
Skauber, For this one item, I didn't wanna run a full feed up the pillar. I don't like a lot of things around the windshield in general as it is. The 4.3" screen sitting above the mirror under the console isn't in my vision anywhere, so I didn't mind that one. My phone sits in a cradle at the bottom left corner of the windshield, basically resting on the dash, my aftermarket radio was installed at the bottom of the kit instead of on top, I make it a point generally to keep everything as out of my vision as possible. It bugs the crap out of me to see cars rolling down the road with a GPS, dash cam, phone, My Little Pony, and god knows what else all stuck all over the middle of the windshield. I question how well those idiots can actually see things with all that crap shining right into their line of sight.......
Dash cam might be the only thing left to go in, and i'm trying to make it a point to find something I can install remotely, have just a small camera on the dash.
While I was at it, slid under the dash to grab the keypad code off the sticker on the body module and tighten up the 2 bolts on the shifter. Man what a difference

Yeah, there's no need to add a dedicated circuit for a simple camera including the display. If you're going to feed a dashcam, display, backup camera with another display and what not, that might be a situation where I'd consider a dedicated circuit, depending on the available feeds up there. In my case, the moonroof feed would be able to carry pretty much anything you'd want to add there so those who have a moonroof will have that as an option.

I had to replace the OEM switches with robust ones, good mini toggles to replace those cheap plastic push buttons and replacing the wiring to the map lites themselves, I'm rewiring and installing good LEDs too.
So the key here is to see the wiring hookups of the switches and LEDs. I lost the circuit I had in my head.
There are six wires, and I only need to switch two lamps. Is that wiring documented anywhere?

Hey Alloro, I'm trying to decipher the wiring for the map lites in a 2000 Expedition.

I'm restoring a 2000 Eddie Bauer 5.4L Expedition, working now on the Overhead Console (had to rewire it due to age, corrosion, etc) and my next project is to replace a leaking heater radiator behind the dash. Then, figure out why my well-loved truck hits second gear so hard by first replacing the Trans Filter and fluid, then check electronics if the issue continues after that work. I just replaced all of the front end ball joints, and yes.....I didn't buy axles with pre-installed CVT boots, I replaced the boots myself. Man, that was a job!!
So slowly, but most certainly surely, my baby will be back to proper running condition. THEN, body and paint!!!!
Thanks so much for your help. I have the Shop Manual for this Expedition, but the detail you just sent me isn't in the manual.
Best, Alloro!
Chad
