1985 6.9 Mouse chewed wire
There is a plug near the #1 Cylinder glow plug, that comes out of the loam, and has an orange wire leading to ??? Mouse chewed it off and I can not find where or what it goes to.
Does anyone know what it is for ? I can not find another end that is loose. Just put in new glow plugs, fuel return o rings, and don't want to start till I find what this goes to.
Thanks
Craig

Looks like those two wires come out of the GP harness and go to sensors that screw into the engine.
One below the timing gear cover and the other below the VC in front of the exhaust manifold.
I don`t have the plug you show in your picture. I looked on both my 85 and 86.
Your engine should start and run w/o either of these sensors connected.
There is a plug on the IP with that type connector with 2 orange wires, and one on the rear with a yellow wire. one of those if the fuel shut off. W/O it connected you won`t start the engine. I think one is the
fast idle when the engine is cold.
Carmel Valley, I lived in the Santa Cruz area for over 40 years. We were almost neighbors.
EDIT: DUH, I just noticed in your picture the throttle cable. I bet that wire goes to the fuel
heater. Look at the fuel line coming from the pump up to the filter. There is a large section
and that is the fuel heater. See if that wire is chewed off.

I lived in Soquel for 27 yrs, retired in 06, then moved here near Gardnerville 4 yrs ago.
Glad I did then, couldn`t afford this place now. Found an older place built in 74 with 2 shops
and a shack.......I call it that, shop is bigger.
Moved because of my Mom, she will be 97 next month, fell in April and broke her hip, so she is in
a home in Carson. The next 4 months was clean out, clean up and get house on the market.
Sold in 9 days, Escrow closed in 5 days. WOW!!!!
Now getting to projects put off all summer. I can almost see the snow flakes coming and Iam not ready
Love Lock, been a long time I went through there. Enjoy your retirement.
