It shouldn't be a problem. I haven't read of many people installing it on the 7.3L.
Most of us do the Hutch mod (and do the Harpoon mod too while we're in the tank) to remove the air pre-pump and install our filter of choice (I recently moved from a spin-on filter to a Racor PS120-02).
Not as pricey as the Airdog II but still very effective IMO.
Any 7.3L questions I recommend posting in the 1999-2003 7.3L forum. Many knowledgable people hanging out over there compared to here. Some of us cruise over here in the general SD forum but since our trucks are at least 15 years old we aren't as relevant here.
Airdog sells a kit that is made specifically for the 7.3 that's has the premade lines as well as has the pumps pressure regulator set at the proper psi for the truck. If you put the airdog in I would go ahead and drop the tank and remove the in tank screens as they will be unnecessary with the airdog in place.

The pickup foot with the screen has been known to deteriorate over time and can fall off in the tank. It is also a lot easier to change filters on the frame rail than to drop the tank and clean the in-tank screen.
I removed the sending unit from the gas tank and found the pickup foot broken off and in pieces. I also found a large plastic disk in the bottom of the tank. The disk is just big enough that it won't fit through the opening. I believe it is possible that the disk broke the pickup foot. Has anyone else seen this? Is the disk supposed to be in the tank? I'm going to do my best to remove the disk from the tank. I suppose it may have been the piece cut out for the opening in the tank.
