For those who have gone this route, how much actual difference is there?

How much mpg and power did you lose compared to stock 275 18s?

I have 285x65r18's over the factory 275x70r18 and I notice a little difference over stock. I'm about 1.5 mph off at 60

And it looks like you have 4.30s. I'm worried it would be too much for 3.73s.

My guess is you'll probably experience more shifting between 5-6th. Might need to lock out 6th at times if it shifts too much for your liking. Outside of that not a big deal. I think the stock 20" wheels and 275's on a Lariat is about the same diameter as the 295's.

Your truck WOULD be less responsive and you WOULD see a decrease in fuel economy. What is the benefit? Looks?

Actually I'm wanting a wider footprint for all the off-road situations my truck gets used in. I'm aware that it will change the final ratio some. My question was how much mileage difference (numbers) and how noticeable is the difference in shifting and power delivery. If its fractional and barely noticeable it's worth it to me for the gained traction. If its more than that then I'm not sure. So for people who have actually done this and have data to assist me feel free to chime in.

I once put tires 1 size larger on a VW Jetta Turbo and lost 3 MPG on the highway. I realize this is a totally different situation but I wouldn't be surprised if you lost 1 MPG.

I could see where you might additional "floatation" in some situations with soft surfaces or sand.

I have 295/60/20's nitro terra grapplers with 3.73 gears on my 2011. i average a best of 18.6-7l/100k to a worst of 19.4l/100km. Empty or towing. My truck is decatted with one resonator also removed and dyno tuned for economy and towing. Sixth to fifth downshifts are kind of annoying under 100km/hr and over they're not an issue to me. I drive fast and heavy footed. Hit 160km/hr + a couple of times earlier today. I'd like to have lower gears I think. But in tow tune unladen it's hard to keep traction from the line as it is.

I just replaced my 17" onion peels with a set of 285/70/18 ridge grapplers. Lost a little umpf but at least I won't get stuck on wet grass anymore. I'm sure loose around 2-3 mpg around town, I'm at 15 now so no big deal there.

I replaced 275/70R18s with 295/70R18 Michelin Defenders. I did notice a slight loss of power and fuel mileage, but it wasn't much and wouldn't stop me from going with the larger size. My truck is a 2011 F250 SB CC 6.2L with 3.73 gears.

What wheels are those and where did you get them? I think they look like an older model year Ford factory wheel, but I'm not sure. Those are exactly something I'm interested in, not sure if I can stomach seeing another black wheel on a pickup without getting sick.

That said, I love the look of my 17" steelies like you used to have. Any particular reason you didn't just go with 285/70/17? Just mainly for the nicer wheel or what? Also, I have noticed that 285 or 295 is the largest you can go on tires with the 17" wheels as they are only 7.5" wide. I wouldn't want to go much larger than that even with 18x8 wheels, but has anyone had any bad experiences running a 285/295 tire on the minimum 7.5" wide wheel?

They are a set of 2016 18" take-offs. I got them of Craigs List for $500, including an 18" spare. The ride is noticeably less harsh with the 18's on there. I think I upgraded to these because of the 7.5 width of the 17s left me few options for bigger tires, and the fact that I was constantly getting stuck on wet grass. Buyer beware: I have the Sterling rear axle on my F350, some of the 17+ trucks have a different Dana rear axle. Not to sure about the configurations, but wheels that fit the Sterling, won't fit the new axels (hub centric vs non or some other nonsense). I'm sure there's folks here that rattle that stuff off for you if you inquire.

Bump for more examples with numbers especially for 2017+. Still on the fence.
