Differences in 2V 5.4 over the years?

I've got a line on a 2V 5.4 from a 2004 Superduty, I'm wondering if I'll have any ECU problems going into my 2001 excursion. I'm betting I'll probably have to run the 01 ECU, but are there any extra sensors or something stupid like that I'll have to watch out for?

As long as you swap all you sensors to the new long block you should be alright, besides everything is almost identical electrical and engine wise.

Somewhere along 2000 the Modular Motors received PI heads, for "performance improved" From what I've read here they do require different intakes. Assuming your heads are the same you should have no problems, z31Freakify's advice is spot on.

FWIW here's a few images that might be helpful ID'ing your heads:

Showing Non-PI vs PI heads.

Right side, towards front. Same markings on left side but towards the back.
